After earning his DVM, Dr. Curcio continued his postgraduate training with a general internship at Auburn University and a surgical internship at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists in Jacksonville, Florida. He then went on to a small animal surgery residency at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Michigan State University. After his residency, he served as assistant professor there, managing a heavy orthopedic surgery caseload and teaching residents, interns and veterinary students.
Dr. Curcio has given numerous presentations at academic and professional society meetings, and to veterinarians in private practice. He has had research published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association and is currently working on the manuscript for a research project on comparing treatment methods for canine carpal arthrodesis.
Dr. Curcio is proficient in all aspects of soft tissue, orthopedic, neurologic, and oncologic surgery. He has special interests in minimally invasive surgery and emergency surgical procedures.
Before coming to Gainesville, Dr. Curcio spent two years in Nashville, Tennessee at a surgical referral practice where he met Dr. Oshin. He then went on to establish a surgery section at an emergency and specialty practice in Atlanta. Dr. Curcio is originally from New Jersey. His wife, Michelle, is a flight instructor and was born and raised in Banks County, Georgia. Their family members include two cats and a dog. Outside of work, Dr. Curcio enjoys sports, especially football, and is a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan. He also enjoys cooking and watching movies. Dr. Curcio is excited about the opportunity to provide surgical care to the family pets of North Georgia.
